As most of you know Doug and I now have a beautiful addition to our family. Brayden Douglas Klutzke was born Thursday October 1st at 5:43 p.m. Let me tell the experience was a long one, but in the end it was well worth it. As I had written in my previous blog I was suppose to go to my doctor’s appointment on September 29th for my 37 week check-up. Well it turned out that my blood pressure was still high and there was still protein and sugar showing up in my urine. The doctor said this was a clear sign of toxemia and that my body was not handling pregnancy anymore. It was time to deliver. Well that evening I was admitted to the hospital and Wednesday I was to be on observation for my blood pressure and then to be given medicine to start dilation that evening. Wednesday was a long day. Doug went to work so all I did was sit in bed and read and prepare for my little guy to join us. Doug was so great through this time; he didn’t even go home to sleep in a real bed! Wednesday night my contractions started. They gave me some medicine to sleep so that I would have some energy for the big day on Thursday. At 8 a.m. on Thursday my doctor came and broke my water. That’s where the fun began. My contractions became more intense and were right on top of each other and lasted about 30 seconds. I did this for seven hours with the help of Doug and my doula Sarah. I got to 6 cm before I needed to get the epidural. We were hoping that the epidural would help with the dilation. Sure enough I was complete in an hour! I began pushing at 3ish and pushed for almost 2 hours! He just wasn’t going to come out that easy. Brayden’s monitor started to show decels and I was becoming exhausted after doing this for 10 hrs plus going through a whole night of contractions previously! I decided it was time for a C-section. We were in the OR in 10 minutes and Brayden was out in another 20. Unfortunately I was not having the best experience on the table. I got very sick and started to vomit, let me tell you, being strapped down and not being able to feel your body while throwing up is not the most pleasant experience. When they got Brayden out he wasn’t crying. He had had the cord wrapped around his neck twice and had fluid in his lungs! They worked on him and seconds later I heard his first cry. I of course was still throwing up so they were not going to bring him over to me. I begged and was finally was able to see my beautiful baby boy. Doug and I were so happy and relieved that he was a perfectly healthy baby boy! It was the best moment in my life! In the end I am so relieved I decided on the C-section when I did. We finally got back to recovery and I was able to hold our miracle in my arms. My parents had been waiting this whole time in the waiting room. They came in to greet there first grandchild. This completed the best day of my life. As tired as I was and as painful as it was, it was well worth it. Brayden and I stayed in the hospital until the following Tuesday. Brayden was a little jaundice and therefore was recommended to stay in the hospital one extra day. Arriving home was so nice. To be able to sleep in my own bed and to eat homemade food was well received! Brayden is now a little over a month and is the most amazing baby! He is already sleeping 5 to 6 hours a night. He coos and smiles and is just a beautiful baby. We are so blessed! I will continue to write and post pictures as Brayden grows.

Wow how scary! Thankfully evryone is alright and you have such a beautiful baby boy! Congrats again Cari!
